Urban Decay The Vice Palette: Review

Here's the review for The Vice Palette.  I picked it up at Sephora Star Hill at rm199.  (Not available in Sephora Klcc!)

Here is what exactly written on the box.
"A purist's homage to Eyeshadows, this gorgeously luxe palette is loaded woth twenty new, exclusive and achingly beautiful shades in our velvety, revamped formula.  From the jewel inlaid, soft and touchable case, to the double-ended Good Karma brush and a lid that opens slowly for a decadent presentation, no luxurious detail has been overlooked"

Hurm... Extravaganza introduction i must said. Extremely self-flattering.

Still in the box
The back of the box with the self-flattering intro.

Out of the box.

The case does feel soft and touchable.  It's almost feel like velvet without velvet.  If it makes sense.  The jewel inlaid is very eye-catching and definitely put an elegant touch to the case.  The only downside is "THE VICE PALETTE" etching.  It's barely visible but who cares? I don't.  Hehehhe...

The mirror still have plastic on it.
The close up
The vibrant colors!

It came with a double-ended brush.  Both ends are synthetic.  Not picking up much product but if you don't have any eyeshadow brush, this would be decent enough.  I don't use the brush though.

Here comes the swatches.

The first 10 colors: (from left) Desperation, Muse, Jagged, Blitz, Penny Lane, Junkie, Chaos, Occupy, Unhinged and Black Market.

Without flash

With Flash.

Another one! To show you how the colors look like from far.
Desperation: An almost matte taupe color.  It has a very fine glitter that make it looks almost glossy.  Not sparkly.

Muse: A dark chocolate brown color.  Rich with gold glitters.  Very sparkly in the pan and on swatch. Good color pay off.

Jagged:  I must say this is the worst shade in the palette.  It looks like dark olive green color with black and gold glitter.  It looks pretty good in the pictures above.  I swatch it like 5 times to get the color.  The black glitter is really loose. It falls right off when swiped.  Hurm.. It suits the name though. Jagged.

Blitz: This is my favorite shade in this palette.  A striking warm golden color with fine gold glitters.  The color pay off is awesome.  I only swiped it once and the color showed up so intense. Well, not in the pictures above coz i have tanned skin.

Penny Lane: A warm peachy shade.  The texture is similar with Blitz.  With fine gold glitters as well.  Color pay off is as good as Blitz!

Junkie: I'm not sure how to describe this color.  It's like green and blue? Maybe it's dark olive green with blue undertone.  That's my best description.  Lol.. Well, i call it mermaid-sort-of color.  It has gold glitters and color pay off is just wow.  I never like green eyeshadow.  This would be the exception. (I referred to a color chat, apparently it's a sea green shade!)

Chaos: A striking matte neon blue shade!Very subtle blue on first swipe, screaming neon on 3rd swipe.  Honestly, i don't know how to pull this color of on my eyelids.

Occupy:  A metallic dim grey color with silver fine shimmers. Color pay off really good.

Unhinged: A very intense teal color with fine glitters in the pan.  Look more like turquoise on the swatch.  Color pay off is awesome!

Black Market: A metalic black color with shimmers.  Well, it won't be metallic if it's without shimmers right?? Color pay off is good.  Need 2 swipe for a more intense black.

The last 10 colors: (from left) Provocateur, Rapture, Vice, Noise, Armor, Nevermind, Echo Beach, Anonymous, Freebird and Laced.

Provocateur: A wheat (what?) shade (I'm referring to a color chart now because i'm not good with describing color!) with a lot of silver glitters! It looks super nice on the swatch with good color pay off and shimmers, but in reality, the swatch went berserk after few minutes.  What i'm trying to say is, the glitters are really loose that it went all over my hand and my hand literally look like a disco ball.  The color disappeared too. It's worst with brush.  Hurm. I don't know what else to say. Maybe, you can use it as body glitter?? Lol.

Rapture: According to the color chat, it is a rosy brown color and i thought it was related to purple.  Lol to myself.  The color pay off really good.  The shimmers are good. Love this color!

Vice: I know this one. It's a dark magenta shade (I lied, i referred to color chart.) with very fine shimmers. Love the color pay off, it's great.

Noise:  It looks like pink infused with red to me.  But according to the pro (color chart), it's a crimson color with fine shimmers in the pan. On swatch (without flash) it looks like a deep pink shade.  With flash, it's more like hot pink.  Urm, i can't decide what color it is.  Split personality color.

Armor: A taupe color with shimmers.  Color pay off is very good.  Good.  Enough said.

Nevermind: A tan color with fine gold glitters in the pan.  On swatch, it's more like a rusty bronzy shade (well, to me).  Color pay off is great.  Love it!

Echo Beach: A khaki shade with fine gold shimmers as well.  Really good color pay off.  The shimmers just right. Overall, good.

Anonymous: A matte blanched almond (?) shade.  Really good as a base color.  Great color pay off.  Easy to blend.

Freebird:  A peach color with loose glitters.  Not as bad as Provocateur. The color stays on. Minimal glitter fall out.  It's pretty good if applied with fingers.  Not good with brush.

Laced: A matte sandy brown shade. Really good as a base color. As you can see on the picture (without flash), it blends right off to my skin.

Verdict: Great fun 20 colors paletteThe variety of colors is great. 2 bad colors but others just great.  Overall, i love it.  It's not cheap but not too expensive either.  Good for those who loves to experiment with make up.  Few shades are neutral enough for natural look.  Other shades are va va voom.  Not a good investment for those who aim for neutral tone (grab Naked or Naked 2 instead!).  I love it because i'm experimental.

Sephora Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara in Ultra Black: Review

I purchased this mascara for quite a long time ago but i didn't use it much coz it just not good for me.  So here's the picture of the mascara.

The wand

Price: Rm69 (14ml)
Texture: Thick and waxy consistency
Colour: Ultra black

This mascara:
  •  is not waterproof.
  •  is super black on lashes.  This the only good thing about this mascara. That if you love super black  mascara..
  •  has heavy waxy formula. It makes my previously curled lashes droopy and become straight again.
  •  has a very regular wand. It does not separate the lashes very well and the heavy formula make it quite clumpy.
  • takes quite sometime to dry due to the heavy formula.
  • is quite messy to apply to bottom lashes.  The brush is just not suitable for this.
  • has 14ml content.  That's a lot. The tube itself is big and long (sounds dirty! Yuck!)

Verdict:  It's just an overpriced regular mascara.  Really disappointing.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick: Review

Red lips are very in for this season.  Pair it with either neutral or smoldering dark, you will look smoking hot in both!  Be bold for this fall season. (As if Malaysia has 4 seasons, duhh!)

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 654 Ravish Me Red is one of the killer red lipstick!

Price: Rm26+ (10% off in Watson)

Texture: Rather creamy that glide smoothly on the lip.

Smell: None.

  • The color is semi-opaque (new word???) and can be sheered out for more subtle red hue.  Layer it, you get bold bright red. So, if you are new to red lipstick, this should be a good choice.
  • Non-drying.  It's kinda feel like buttery creamy all the time.  Doesn't feel heavy on the lips.
  • Last for 4-5 hours. Quite long lasting huh? Of course it will a bit wear off after eating and drinking.  Touch up is needed.
  • In the picture, it's kinda peachy colour but it's more to bright red in real life. Very suitable for those with olive or slight tan complexion.  Like me.  Those who have fair white skin, you can pull it off too but of course any colour will be a good match for you. Even dark black will look good on fair skin. How lucky!
  • Day or night, you can wear this colour.  It will instantly give a dose of brightness for pale or dull face!

Verdict:
It's a really good lipstick. Non-drying and long lasting? What more can i ask? It suits my yellowish complexion really well.  Brighten up my face! Price wise, it's quite cheap.  Not dirt cheap but worth your every penny.

Sweet tips: Losing weight healthily...

Few months back, i was a 51kg walking meat and fat (a lots of it) on a 5 feet tall body.  For a couple of years, I was really chubby and realized that i needed to lose some weight.  But never been successful to shed some pound due to my crazy appetite and laziness to exercise.  So many people noticed my weight gain. Well, i was a thin petite girl weighing around 43kg-45kg before.  But being so happy in love for almost 3 years, i just didn't care about my weight and ate whatever i like. We both gained serious weight eventually!

I still remember the day we decided to shed some weight. 24th of May 2012.  I put up our goals on the wall so that we can see it and remind ourselves everyday.  Here's my goal.

  • I wanna be thinner like last time!
  • I want to fit old clothes!
  • I wanna have flat stomach and thin legs!

I also put up YES and NO stuffs.

YES
  • Oats!
  • Hi-Fibres!
  • Green Teas!
  • Exercise (At least 30mins per day!)
  • Fruits!
  • lots of WATER!
NO
  • Fast Foods!
  • Carbonated drinks!
  • Fried food!
  • White rice!
  • Processed food !
And not to forget: my weight. Previous, aim and current and also how many i have lost so far!

Now, i proudly can say this! My current weight is 45kg! I have lost 6kg!

It's almost September now.  I maintained this weight for a month plus now.  Didn't lose any weight anymore coz i've been slacking on exercises and there were birthdays and most recently Eid.  I ate a lot. I am happy enough that i never gain any weight despite my gluttony.

So what's the secret?  Simple. Substitute rice with rolled oats and cook at home.  Avoid eating out and yeah, exercise!Rolled oats are jam packed with fibers and it's good for your heart too! Some of you may think that it's weird to eat oats with veges and meats, but believe me, it's not! It taste just like rice even though the first time, it tasted bland.  I ate a lot of veges. i mean, A LOT.  Green leaf veges like baby pak choy and choy sum taste great with oats.  Simply sauté them with chopped garlic and they're ready to be eaten.  For protein, i usually choose grey oyster mushrooms and boneless chicken over red meats.  They're easier to digest. I do eat red meats once in a while.  It depends on you how to cook it. Just don't fry it. No rendang, no masak lemak ok?  Eat a lot of fresh fruits.  I love mango!  Sometimes i juiced the fruits myself and it tasted better and definitely cheaper than what they sell outside.  Fruits and veges are sources of Vitamins too.  So, eat them!

Exercise every day. At least 30 mins.  I admit that sometimes i slacked on this.  Sometimes, i went out and didn't exercise for the day.  Sometimes i simply lazy.  But, i made sure at least 5 days in a week, i exercised.  What exercise did i do?  Well, i basically watched Youtube and followed the trainer! I like Tiffany Rothe Workouts, she has great and fun workouts.  Sometimes when i feel energized and need badass workouts, i watched Jillian Micheal  or Pump it up High Energy!  Or i just dance with full-blasted musics for 1-2hours.  I do 30 lunges, 30 squats, 10 jumping squats, 30 crunches and lift some weight for at least 40 times.   Oh yes, i do belly dance everyday for at least 15 mins.  It's fun!

So, that's how i lost weight and stay healthy. Don't starve yourself for the sake of dieting.  You may lose some weight by starving but when you start eating, the weight will bounce back.  Be smart. Eat smart.  Oh i forgot, my babe lost 12kg with this method. :)

Sephora Haul!

I went to Sephora a couple of days ago.. And i got myself these stuffs...

1) Clinique Blended Face Powder (RM109)
- Well, the loose powder i currently use almost empty. Needed to buy a good one to set up my foundation! It's definitely a necessity.  Wait, i still have Too Faced Primed and Poreless powder! Hurm... Nevermind, i need one loose powder in my skin tone. :)

2) Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (RM75)
 - Influenced to buy after watching Promise Phan's make up tutorial.  In fact, I don't need this coz my eyelid usually won't get so oily and my eye shadows stay pretty well without creasing throughout the day.  But hey, it can make the color appear more vibrant! Okay!

3) Sephora Base Lissante Smoothing Primer (RM49)
-  I've been using this primer for quite sometime.  Good primer i must say! Now, it's almost empty. So need to repurchase this baby.

4) Sephora Base Sublimatrice Primer (RM49)
- Basically, I just wanted to try this since the lissante one is great.  It's in my skin tone color. I hope it will give me the sheer glow it claims to give.

The Sephora sale assistant generous enough to give me 2 free sample of Burt's Bees Pomegranate Sugar Scrub and 1 Clinique Facial Wash sample (for the purchase of Clinique product).  I definitely will avoid Sephora for few months from now on. If not, i will be lured to buy stuffs again.. XD

Product reviews coming soon. xoxo

Sweet tips: Taking care of your lips.

A healthy looking lips are surely attractive.  A chapped one, not so much.  Your smile deserve great frame, which is your lips. Imagine smiling with chapped lips.  Ouch! Your lips need some tender loving care too especially now the weather is so much hotter and drier.

So what you need to do:

1) Drink a lot of water! When your body is well-hydrated, it will appear through you lips and skin! Drink at least 2.5L of water.  Malaysia is freaking hot, it will constantly dehydrate your body.  So drink up! Your body, you skin and your lips will thank you.

2) Apply some good lip balm.  Revive the chapped lips. The primary purpose of lip balm is to provide an occlusive layer on the lip surface to seal moisture in lips and protect them from external exposure. Dry air, cold temperatures, and wind all have a drying effect on skin by drawing moisture away from the body. Lips are particularly vulnerable because the skin is so thin, and thus they are often the first to present signs of dryness.  There are plenty types of lip balms these days. Stick, pot, clear, color-tinted, shimmery, buttery, glossy.  Pick one.  or two.  or more.

3) Scrub it! Scrub the dead skin away at least 3 times per week.  The simplest way to do this is to use a toothbrush.  How?  First, moisten up your lips with luke warm water.  Brush your lips gently in circular motion.  Rinse.  So simple right.  Or you can use sugar and honey to make a scrub.  Take 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix them together.  Rub it on your lips.  Both ways resulting in healthy looking and soft lips.  The second method however will give you softer and moisturized lips.  Don't forget to apply some lip balm after scrubbing!

4) Choose lipstick with moisturizing formulas.  Some lipsticks formulas are really drying!  The color may look good on you but few hours later, you may feel your lips are dry and chapped.  And then your lips starts to peel and look horrible.  You wouldn't want that to happen, would you?  Nowadays, there are many brands with moisturizing properties.  For example: Maybelline Watershine Lipsticks and Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick.  Go for tinted lip balm for sheer color.  Revlon also produce ColorBurst lipbutter, which is a tinted balm with nice nearly opaque color.

So, that's it for a healthy lips.  Did i mention healthy lips also mean kissable lips? :) xoxo

Handy little thing: AikenTea Tree Oil

Hot weather, haze, hormones imbalance, bad digestion... Well those sorts of stuffs really broke me out with pimples all over my chin and forehead.  I've tried Oxy 10% Benzyl Peroxide to clear them off, but it didn't work.  So i searched high and low for effective alternative.  I found Aiken Tea Tree Oil.  I heard good things about this stuff and most recently from Bubzbeauty.  She used Origin Tea Tree oil though. But i'm not quite sure if there's any differences.

Aiken Tea Trea Oil
Price: RM10+  dor 10ml (can't remember the cents.)

It claims to contain 100% pure Tea Tree Oil.  The texture is oily since it is oil, with a strong scent of eucalyptus-like (which is not the same but quite similar) scent.  For those who hate this strong-type scent, i bet you won't like it.  So how to use it? Simple! Just dab on finger and apply directly onto blemishes or acne or pimples or wherever skin that tend to break out.  Just like that and let it settle there.  You will feel instant cold-like sensation or stinging a little bit, you can totally feel that the oil are absorbed that quickly into your skin.  I like the sensation so no complaints from me.  You can also use it on cuts, wounds, minor burns and insect bites.  Handy huh? I got mosquito bites recently and it was so itchy. So i dabbed this little guy on the bite and hey, it wasn't itchy anymore!

So did it work? Yes.  I got this big pimple on my chin.  So i applied the oil onto it the night before.  The next morning, the pimple shrunk and dried up.

Verdict: Thumbs up.  Definitely a good purchased.  Rm10+ for 10ml of oil but worth every penny.10ml appears to be so little, but i can tell you for sure, it will last longer than your large tube of toothpaste since you will only need a very little amount to work wonders.
